QBC Minutes for November 2, 2009

Daphne High School Quarterback Club

President’s Welcome/Comments:

The meeting was called to order by President Paul Deterding. In attendance was honored guest, Anthony Mitchell and his father Wayne Mitchell. Anthony took a few moments to express thanks for the support and prayers of the Trojan family during his recovery. He continues a strong recovery with a very positive outlook as to his future. Anthony is currently in the process of returning to college.

Coach’s Report

Coach Vickery acknowledged the challenges of going up against the very strong Niceville program. The very large school with approximately 2400 students often benefits from its proximity to the military base nearby but he expressed no excuses but only strong preparation of team for this Friday’s playoff game against Theodore. The gates were split 50-50 with Niceville. Given the bus expense of nearly $3000 for the team, the gate split will defray some of the expenses.

Coach thanked the parents and students who assisted with concessions at Trione Park reporting early on Saturday after late travel from Niceville. He reports the team has enjoyed two days of excellent practices and is looking forward to a "new" season associated with playoff competition. He anticipates it will take a 100% effort by our Trojans against a large defensive line of Theodore with a pretty traditional offensive strategy.

After winning against Theodore, our Trojans will proceed to play the winner of the Murphy/Fairhope game. If Fairhope wins, we will play them at Fairhope but if Murphy prevails they will come to Trojan field for the next round game.

: th, Varsity plays Theodore at Theodore beginning at 7pm. th Fall Festival at Daphne Elementary- Cloth Sale volunteers needed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. th the Playoffs continue with Daphne playing winner of Murphy/Fairhope game.

Cheerleaders/Dance Team Update:

Cheerleaders are continuing effort to produce a cheerleader calendar which is currently having technical difficulties with production. Additional information will be provided as available.

Spirit Night at Beef O’Brady’s resulted in a $219.00 benefit to our cheerleaders. Thanks for the support!
