QC Minutes July 13 2010
2010 DAPHNE QUARTERBACK CLUB
July 13, 2010 MINUTES
Welcome:
A welcome was brought by President Paul Deterding. He thanked everyone for their continued support during summer months.
Coach Update:
Coach Vickery is out of town in Huntsville so Coach Lawrence reported on behalf of the coaches. The coaches are looking forward to fantastic year with nearly 100% participation for nearly all the summer. The attendance has been a really blessing to the coaches.
They are happy about the competitions at 7on 7 tournaments. The defense and offense attended camps. We sought approval for those camps days not to count against the competitive dates but it was not approved. The coaches do not regret the camps which will help the teams overall in the season. Unfortunately, this results in an inability to attend the Hoover tournament.
The coaches are pushing to get more parent involvement. The fundraising is a requirement to support the team and 100% involvement. The boys need to be held responsible for $500 in fundraising before they benefit for some items.
The coaches are excited about the upcoming year. The staff changes are bringing new ideas and perspective.
Cheerleading Update:
Coach Lindsay Vickery reported good beginning of training. Aug. 2-5th is camp. July 31st is a donut sale on street corners and they appreciate the support. The team is looking great with conditioning very important. Two –a- day practices have been ongoing for nearly two weeks.
The cheerleaders are missing some megaphones so if anyone locates any missing items please contact Lindsay Vickery.
Dance Team:
Overall, Blue Ribbon at camp at Auburn with 2nd place trophy and many individual awards and some All-American awards given out.
President Comments:
The golf tournament is up coming on August 14th. We are anticipating a max out situation at approaching 100 people if possible. Butch Adams is the chairperson and working hard behind the scene. We are getting some community support with radio advertisements.
Sponsors have been contacted by Mitzi Campbell and no sponsor has said they would not support again. This is on top of the Draw Down success as the club fundraising off to a great start.
Taste of the Eastern Shore is on August 21st at Daphne Civic Center and we are looking forward to great ticket sales for that event. We are looking for a season- ticket sale coordinator so if you are interested, contact Paul to volunteer. We are hoping to have ticket sales within the next couple of weeks. The tickets will be $200 for two seats and $30 for parking pass. If you need additional seats for the family at cost will be $50 each for two additional seats but that does not include gate admission for the additional ½ seat. If seats are not taken at game time, you can upgrade for $10.00 to get an unoccupied seats.
Carmen updated us on program sales and it is believed nearly all program sales from those businesses purchased last year have been contacted. We are looking for prospects and new business ads. The forms are available at the www.daphnefootball.com. There are reduced prices for ads for students. We will be handing out flyers to students and the community.
Program pictures will be taken on August 7th. Coaches and senior players, cheerleaders and dance team bios will be needed before the August 14th. A grill daddy is needed for this year so volunteers are needed as soon as possible.
A work day is going to be upcoming so watch for date announcement to make sure our stadium, field and field house are in great condition for our kids and guests.
Closing:
Thank everyone for coming out. Cheerleading parents meeting will be after next week’s meeting.
