November 23, 2010 MINUTES

Welcome:

Welcome to the supporters of the Daphne Trojans by President Paul Deterding.

Coach Update:

Coach Vickery summarized the excellent results from the Wetumpka game. He appreciates the aggression when needed by the offense play calling.   Wetumpka was coming off of a big win against their rivalry, Prattville and they may have been down. But our defense really shut down the Wetumpka offense which allowed us to take the win.

We were not happy with all calls but overall there were few significant errors in their calls.  Coach expressed his gratitude to the fans and the supports. We received several e-mails of compliments for the positive atmosphere and good sportsmanship.

We are moving forward to our Friday night game against the well-respected Davidson team.  This is a strong rivalry as both teams are very good and should make for an excellent game.    We expect the best offensive line we likely have seen all years.  They are not a “one player” team but are some with very high numbers. There are excellent receivers on the Davidson team so we will have to play very tough.  They are a solid team so we will have to bring all we have for a win.

Wednesday and Thursday at 8:55 a.m. until 12pm with grilled hamburgers served after the practice.  The parents are welcomed at all practice.  On Thursday 8:55 a.m. and it will be special day for the team with practice for 10:00-11:30 a.m.  On Friday will be here at 10 a.m. for starters so rest of the team will report about 2:30 for pre-game meal and regular schedule after that. 

This will be TV game delayed on Saturday at 7pm.  There will be a plaque presentation for both teams.  We need to show excellent sportsmanship to our neighbors.

 The next week’s game at Auburn at 7pm on Friday for the winner.  The team will go upon Thursday after a win on Friday night.

Cheerleading Update:

The cheerleaders are in good shape.

Dance Team:

The dance team is ready for Friday.

Upcoming Events:

We are grilling for the boys tomorrow beginning at 10-10:30 and any volunteers are needed.  We are going fry some French fries for the boys for a meal around 12 pm. 

8:30 on Thursday parents are needed to help prepare the biscuits for feeding around.   The parents are going to get together on Friday to enjoy BBQ together and watch the Auburn/Alabama game.

We have Boston butts available for $30/each. We are bringing the youth football teams to run out on the field on Friday.  We are going to have some additional toys and excitement for Friday night’s game.

Concessions:

We need additional sign ups volunteers.

Friday Team Meal:

Sugar Kettle Café will provide some of the meal.  We will have grilled pork chop and vegetables at 2pm.

Coach Vickery Closing:

Coach Vickery again expressed his appreciation for the incredible support they team has experienced though out the season.    He asked us to keep up our energy and excitement on the road to Auburn for 2010 State Championship game.
